Lord God,

I thank you that the day is coming soon when Christ Jesus will return,

And his lordship will be proclaimed throughout all creation,

We thank you that this day is certain,

And we look forward to the time when all things will be made new,

All brokenness will be healed, and all evil will be judged,

May you renew our joy and confident hope in Jesus,

In whom we have salvation,

And as we see the Day approaching,

May you draw us ever closer to you each day,

Help us to not be pulled away by everyday distractions and cares,

Or to settle into worldly riches and comforts,

And teach us not to idle away our remaining time,

So that we would not be found unprepared at our Master’s return,

Instead, help us to be ever alert and in prayer,

And ever diligent in seeking your Word,

Teach us to grow in deeper fellowship,

Encouraging and building up one another,

As we strive side by side toward the finish line,

May we not grow weary of good works,

But make the most of the opportunities in these last days,

May we not cower in fear before opposition and persecution,

But proclaim your Word ever more boldly before the day of judgement,

Never ceasing our intercession,

For those not yet saved,

And as we look for that day,

When your kingdom will be realised in all its fullness,

We pray,

Come, Lord Jesus.
