Teach Us To Pray Part 1

“This, then, is how you should pray” Matthew 6:9a NIV

Whenever we attempt something for the first time, we might look for instructions as to how to do this new thing we try. When we sit to commune with our creator, would it not be nice to have a guide? What could be of more importance than to communicate with the One who created us, the One who gives us all that we possess?

We are followers of the Lord, and He tells us here how we should pray. Now, we need not necessarily repeat the exact words which Jesus uses, but we most assuredly should use them as a guide as to how to pray. God does not want us to utter words we have memorized. He wants to know what is in our heart. Let us use the words of our Lord as a model when we pray. If we do so, then our time of prayer will be much more rewarding to us.
