I talked to mama Thanksgiving day.
I told her there had been a change in plans.
My family wouldn't be coming that way,
and I knew mama would understand.

Christmas, and things are still in the air.
Mama knows I will come visit if I can.
It's understood about how much I care,
and as usual, I'm sure mama understands.

Just don't have free time anymore !!!
The hours seem to run through like sand.
Been awhile, since I darkened mama's door;
but I call her, and she tells me she understands.

I will finally get to see mama today.
I called and cancelled all of my plans.
No more putting off, no more delays.
Dear God, why didn't I understand?
