As Jesus went walking on those dusty roads in Galilee,
One may wonder where He was heading, what would be His destiny?
Crowds gathered round Him, people longed for His healing, listening intently to His stories, that explained the truth of life, Would His destiny be one of glory? or maybe it would it be one where He made lots of friends, with His fame now growing would His name be known? Would it be acknowledged by one and all? As we walked beside Him down those dusty roads, little did we know that a wooden cross would be His destiny.

As the children gathered round Him, attracted by His stories and the love He showed to them, I wonder what they thought would be His end?
As the blind gained vision, as lepers received cleansing from their curse, as parents had children return to life again, I wonder if they realised, that upon a wooden cross, He would give His greatest gift.

As the shepherds came searching for their Saviour, on that first Christmas night, as they heard the angels singing, lighting up the sky, never could they envisage what would be that baby’s life to live. As wise men came to offer gifts to a child the stars had led them too, as they worshiped the young child, I wonder if they considered what would make Him King? I doubt they would have known that a wooden cross would be His destiny.

As the soldiers beat Him senseless, spitting in His face, as they ripped His flesh as they struck Him with their whips of bones and nails. Did they ever stop to consider what would be His destiny? As they forced that crown of thorns into His Holy skull, as they hit those nails with their hammers, as they pierced His hands and feet, securing Him to His tree of death, did they ever comprehend that this wooden cross before them, had always been His destiny.

As He hung there dying, as He struggled just to breath, As He looked down upon those faces that were killing Him and those faces who loved Him so, as He saw His mother eyes, full of tears for her dear Son. As He carried all our sins and burdens in His body on the tree, I know He wasn’t thinking of what would be His destiny.

For His love was always more concerned with what would be our destiny!
