Greater Than Our Past

As the colour of the last sunset of our final season disappears,
One can wonder if all the beauty we have enjoyed is now just beyond our reach, beyond our horizons, beyond what we can see;
Darkness now our focus;
Night time now our day!

Reflecting on our lifetimes, we can cling to what we know;
Satisfied with the present, we can fear the future; not knowing what the new dawn brings and what it really means;
Because we see death as a conclusion, we don’t want to read!

We remember days full of laughter, sharing love and special days. The beauty of the caring, the glorious sunshine warming days. Even the heartaches and sorrows we experienced together created connection and deeper love.
Sharing with family, making memories that create a special bond.
Tears shed together, in union, in sympathy and in love. Hugs of comfort and reassurance and in-jokes that remind of times of better days.
Safe and secure in the presence of our dear friends; encouraged to be ourselves; truly known; enjoyed and appreciated for just being who we are.

We love the rich tapestry created by our lives intertwined;
Colours woven together painting a blessed picture that we embrace in love.
As the colour of our final day disappears as the sunset ends. There is no need to be afraid.

For our future together is far greater than our past. For the tapestry we have produced by our lives so far by our pain and sweat; Is but a small part of a vaster picture being created by our Lord.
So much grander than all the colours we have seen thus far.

Yes; we will mourn our loss, yes; we will mourn our separation; causing pain and grief. But we will do so with the knowledge that the greater is to come.

Note: Written in loving memory of Sally Vincent and Phillip Hilford who created beautiful pictures – the best is yet to come!
