Beauty From Ashes

The world was filled with evil;
With violence and brokenness within;
So our God brought a great, great flood,
Bringing judgement, because of man’s sin.

The flood brought such great destruction;
The world would never be the same.
How could such a terrible loss
Ever bring about the smallest gain?

But as our God so often does,
He takes the broken, and messed up thing,
And from the ashes brings forth life;
Oh, what great beauty He loves to bring!

The waters that brought destruction,
Brought swift judgement, but a cleansing too.
The earth again filled with beauty,
And in so many ways, was made new.

The great tow’ring mountains, and plains;
The rivers, canyons, great rocks, and hills,
God molded much through the great flood;
And still to this day, man’s heart it thrills!

Sometimes our hearts too will ache,
As we see life filled with pain, and sin.
But we serve the Lord, Almighty,
Who delights in bringing redemption.

Let us wait on Him, believing,
Though we may not see His work just now;
For He’s faithful, patient, and just;
And our hearts before God must bow!

He knows the answer to each question;
He sees ev’ry heart that feels despair.
But He also knows what He’ll do,
And delights to hear and answer prayer!

Someday we will see more clearly,
And how greatly God’s hand has wrought!
For His ways are higher than our’s,
And His thoughts, far above our thoughts!
