[A work in progress]:
I want to say goodbye to you,
But I just can’t let you go.
You are very much a part of me,
So I cannot close the door.
You came into my life for a purpose;
You left an unfulfilled space in my heart.
Questions are left unanswered,
But from my heart you’ll never depart.
Many lessons I continue to learn,
Trying to tell my heart not to weep.
Your father, your brother and I cried,
Broken hearts we did receive.
Today I heard that still small voice:
“...I brought you here so you can live.”
Lessons learned, I will share…
To grieving others, I will now give.
To My Beloved Ones:
Olivia, my beloved one, you came to teach me the importance and beauty of rest. I pray that when I encourage my friends to rest, they’ll see the fourth commandment as a gift to self from our heavenly Father and reject the desire to wear busyness as a ‘badge of honour’.
Patience, my beloved one, whenever, I get a little impatient, I am often convicted as I remember what you came to teach. I am growing in love and I am praying that all who are connected to me will express and experience love in that way as we do life together.
Jerome, my beloved one, you were named by your brother. He created music for you with new skills he had developed while you were developing in the womb. When he learned you weren’t coming home where he could play with you and for you, he stopped playing. His weeping caused us to focus our attention on him and as we comforted him, he was allowed to release the pain and express the emotions. You came to teach me that grief is part of living in this world. Losing loved ones and things dear to our hearts, is a natural part of the cycle of life. You came to teach us the importance of grieving the losses; the importance of being comforted in times of sorrow. You also came to remind me that ‘win or lose’ I get to praise God.
Hope, my beloved one, you came to reignite the flames of hope. Because of you I am reminded to keep hope alive.
Thank you my beloved ones! You told my heart to beat again.
