When you make a mistake, make amends immediately. It's easier
to eat crow while it's still warm.

Peter had some interesting things to say to new Christians about
how they should act now that they are children of God. He said in
1 Pet. 1:13-16 (nlt), "So think clearly and exercise self control
(that alone would be a mouthful, but there's more)...but now you
must be holy in everything you do, just as God -- who chose you to
be His children -- is holy..."

Does that mean that we have to be so heavenly that we are no
earthly good? Does that mean that the ladies have to wear their
hair in a specific tight bun so they will look holy? Why do some
feel that looking plain and unattractive will draw people to Christ?
Man puts all kinds of trappings and rules in force in the mistaken
notion that it makes one holy. External things don't make anyone
holy or unholy. It is a state of heart, mind and will that determines
holiness.

Being holy is being God conscious in our daily living. It doesn't
mean we have to look pious with our hands pointed upward or we
have to go around looking like a sour puss. It simply means that
we have a conscience that we try to fine tune to God's wavelength
and do our best to be obedient to His commands. Don't try to make
something wierd and mysterious out of it. Be a normal human
being and radiate the love of Christ.

It is unfortunate that the KJV calls us a "peculiar people" in Titus
2:14, because folks give a wrong meaning to that word. The nlt
gives a better rendering, "He gave His life to free us from every
kind of sin, to cleanse us and to make us His very own people,
TOTALLY COMMITTED TO DOING WHAT IS RIGHT."
That's holiness!
