Judges, Chapters 1 and 2 hold a very important message for us today; a specific message which our Bible Teachers, for whatever reason, have not emphasized to us. It is a message we need to hear so that our lives will be free of the worrisome “flies, gnats, snakes and destructive pits,” that our Enemy brings upon us, because we either do no know or refuse to know, that we cannot tolerate sin in our lives thinking that we will control it. We are clearly told by the texts that it will take us down unless we get rid of it from our lives.

In Chapter 1 verse 18, we are told that Judah took Gaza, even the coast thereof; so who does Gaza belong to today?

We would say, Israel. That is true for the reason that Judah took it in battle and the fact that it is territory that God Himself gave to the Israelites. So then why the conflict and war that rages there today? Who lives in the land of Gaza today? That’s a good question, and the answer of WHY is in the texts of Judges, Chapters 1 and 2.

God had told them to utterly destroy their enemies from the land. Is that because God hated the Canaanites? NO, it was because they were worshiping Satanic entities and corrupting the land with evil to innocent people whom God loves. For instance, child sacrifice to Satan is not a new thing: it is what goes on when people follow the devil in indulging their flesh appetites and becoming a corrupted soul.

God’s good plan for them went all wrong because they did not do as God had told them to do.

Chapter 1: 27–36, tell us that none of these Tribes did as God had instructed them to do: Manaseh, Epharim, Zebulon, Asher, Napthali, Dan; those are specifically listed.

The first 2 Chapters of Judges provide to us a clear statement from God!

IF we permit the enemy (demonic enticers) to live in our lives THEN that act of tolerance is saying that we yield to and agree with those that oppose God, WHO is trying to look out for our best life. The result is that although we may struggle with trying to fight the sin, which is there because we permit it, we will ultimately fail to overcome it. Tolerance of sin(s) is never going to work out for our, nor our families, businesses, or communities, and may I add CHURCHES.

God has clearly instructed us, “You be holy because I am Holy!”

I would say that God thinks He calls the Rules; after all, He knows this Universe and ALL it’s operations, and we just got here. Makes sense! The Devil has no new tactics, just new people to work them on.

Chapter 2: 1-3, “And the Angel of the Lord came to them and said,”I brought you out of the land of Egypt and have brought you the land that I swore to your forefathers that I would give to you. I said that I would NEVER break My Covenant with you; I also said, YOU shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; you ARE TO throw down their altars. But you have not obeyed My voice. WHY have you done this?”

“So I am telling you that I will NOT drive them out and they shall be as thorns in your sides and their gods shall be a snare to you.”

It is true for ALL people everywhere even today, IF we permit and endure, be tolerant of, evil among us, THEN we have welcomed, as it were, the irritations, troubles, and destructions, that the evil entities, called demons in Scripture, work among us.

God will help us, and it IS His help that we need, BUT not when we are in agreement with evil.

Whether we like it or don’t like it – THAT IS the way IT IS!
