One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: Luke 6:12-13 NIV
Jesus had disciples who were following at this time. He knew He had to pick a select group to be Hid apostles. So, before He did this He spent the night in prayer with the Father. He knew He would return to the Father and would leave the work of the initial church of His followers to the men He chose. Before making a major decision in our lives, do we spend time in prayer with God? We sure should, to seek His advice and counsel. Too often though we make the decision without even praying. Not a good idea on our part.
