As the deer pants for flowing streams,
So your heart and soul thirst for God;
You yearn for the Lord who redeems,
When confessing when you are flawed.

For my soul is thirsting for God,
When shall I come in front of Him;
The living God to whom I laud,
Bring joy so as not to feel grim.

My tears have been my food each day,
While they say to me, “Where is your God?”
They have been wanting me to stray,
Because my God has been a fraud.

But as I remember these things,
I have poured out my soul and heart;
A procession to His House brings,
With glad shouts of songs to impart.

A multitude-kept festival,
The voice of joy kept holy day;
A day set forth for revival,
Learning how to trust and obey.

Why are you casting down my soul?
Why are you causing turmoil?
My hope in God who does console,
And will make your plans to foil.
