Who Are The Healthy?

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” Luke 5:31 NIV

Have you noticed that many of the verses in Luke’s gospel deal with physical hearling? Keep in mind that Luke was a physician, so he would have definitely related to physical healing. So, who are the sick to whom Jesus refers? They are those who realize that there is something more important than physical health. What is that? The health of the mind and soul. A soul which is sck will plague an individual. The only doctor for the soul is Jesus Christ. He is the One who can heal the soul. Those who are self-righteous have blinded the soul to it’s true lack of health. These do not see the need for a doctor, and thus no need for Jesus. Such a sad case.
