Learn To Get From The Day

Here's a key to getting more out of life. Want to know what it is? Learn to get from the day, not just through the day. The late Jim Rohn said, “Learn to get from the day, not just through the day.”

What do we get from the day? Well, we get value.

Has your day been valuable?

Every day should be valuable for you. It could be a relationship, maybe somebody you met, who’s a valuable person to you. Maybe you got a valuable piece of knowledge or you learned a valuable skill.

So that's what you got from the day.

And you use this through leverage. You use it and learn to monetize that valuable skill, that piece of information or knowledge or that person that you met -  that  new relationship. These assets are part of your personal worth or your hidden treasure (because we all have hidden treasure). This treasure consists of tangible assets and hidden intangible assets.

A lot of people only think about their businesses, they think about their inventory and the money in their bank account. They think about that commercial building they own or their fleet of automobiles, their accounts receivable and so on. These are all obvious assets.

What about the hidden treasure within; the resources within your mind? The way you think, your imagination, the way you talk, the way you relate to people - these are also valuable assets and they've either been learned or they've been gifted to by your Creator.

Take this information and maybe write down a list of your relationships; write down the people you knew in high school, the people you met over the last five or 10 years.

What kind of profession, what occupation did they have?

Write down all the knowledge that you've learned or whatever you're really an expert in. You have obviously educated yourself in some field of expertise, whatever you majored in college, whether it was engineering, or science, biology or business. Write that down. Write down all the people that you know. Those are your relationships. Write down the knowledge and then write down all your skills. What are you really good at? What are you better at than most people? Is it writing? Is it doing mathematical equations?  Is it sales? Is it management of people? Is it leadership?

Write down your skills. You’ve got to take inventory of these things before you can begin to go out and solve problems. Then you can put it all together and overcome those obstacles; to turn those obstacles into opportunities, as it were. You’ve heard that before.

Anyway I hope this helps you try to think at a higher level. By doing so you will achieve greater success in your life because you'll overcome and solve greater problems. And problem solving is what we get paid for.

Everything in life revolves around solving a problem. Your job is solving some person's problem, your boss's problem, somebody's problem. And for that you are, hopefully, richly rewarded.

Have a blessed day!
