A Leader's Limitations

Every leader has his followers who have confidence in him to various degrees. A Leader's ability dictates how far he will go and the extent he can take his followers.

The followers will not hesitate to act contrary to expectations any day a leader begins to behave like his followers. This was what happened to David at Ziklag when his possessions, wives, and children as well as those of his followers were carried away by the Amalekites who invaded the place.

When David did not know what to do, he started to weep like his followers from morning till evening when there was no more strength for them to cry. This was not to be so. He acted as a leader when his followers purposed to stone him to death. He encouraged himself in the Lord Who was the captain of his life. The Lord authorized him to pursue those who invaded Ziklag and the story changed for the better. He recovered all that was taken away and more.

No leader has absolute and total power. He needs some spiritual backup. For a righteous leader, it is the Lord Who has all the power in Heaven and Earth. Any other spiritual power is not only weak but ephemeral and cannot take anymore anywhere for long and in the end, whoever trusts in it will be destroyed by the power. Hold on to the power of the Lord alone.

A sincere and faithful king in Samaria during a siege exposed his inability to help his troubled people and he pointed to the right Personality Who can help at any time and in every way. He said to the woman who sought his help thus, "If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barn floor, or out of the winepress? 2 Kings 6:27. In other words, he was saying, "I am helpless so I cannot help myself how can I help? Go to the Lord Who can do."

Beloved Pilgrim, who are you trusting, man or the Lord? The best thing you can get from a man, no matter his status, is disappointment. Why is this so? Man is limited. Learn wisdom from the head of government in Samaria in his days. Turn to the Lord Who can raise help for you from any quarter and at any time. He never fails and will never fail those who trust Him. Therefore, put your trust in Him, and you will be glad you do. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
