A songwriter states:
"I will call upon the Lord,
Who is worthy to be praised,
So shall I be saved from my enemies;
The Lord reigneth,
Blessed is the Lord
Let the Rock of my salvation be exalted 2ce.

In every nation, sometimes, there are times when things do not go in the right way. In such a period, the poor people in the land find their solution which can never take them anywhere. Many times, they destroy their hope. By so doing many times, they add sin to sin. They also add insults to an injury.

This was the case with the two women who resolved together to solve their starvation using their "wisdom". What was it? They agreed to kill their sons for food one after the other.

They carried out the agreement on the first son of a woman and they survived. After they finished eating the son, the other woman hid the son. She did not make him available for food. This triggered a rift between them.

They dragged the matter on until the king of Samaria was informed of what happened. They sought the king's help but he gave an honest reply because he did not pretend to have a solution nor give the people a forlorn hope. He said, "And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barn floor, or out of the winepress?" 2 Kings 6:27. KJV.

A powerless king cannot help a powerless people. The poor people should call upon the Lord who has the final say in human affairs. He alone can pity the poor and show them His mercy.

The best the king could do was to put on a cloth of sorrow under his royal attire. Could this help the people? No!
Beloved Pilgrim, do not rest on your understanding nor the help of man, whose resources are limited. Rather go to the Lord your God who has unlimited ability and resources at His disposal. He never fails. Trust in Him all the time. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
