"Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Matthew 19:6. KJV.

Marriage was never a conception of anyone. The Creator of the universe was (and still is) the Brain behind marriage. He was the initiator of marriage. He meant well for the children of men by doing so.

A wedding takes place to "officially" bring two opposite people together to stay forever, "until death separates them". Weddings are conducted in various forms and ways but this is not the focus of this piece.

On wedding days, one common thing is that songs are rendered, some songs can elicit "lamentation" for separation, especially on the part of the wife and her parents. On the other hand, some songs create joy, hope, and wise counsel.

Do you know what? Songs on wedding days are easily forgotten as soon as the marriage proper commences. When a wedding song appeals to a couple and they decide to recite it, it soon becomes a routine or a common thing thus losing its value.

A wedding song cannot build a successful home but the people who are involved in the marriage. Please, I will be happy to learn from you if you know of any successful marriage that has been built based on a wedding song. After all, we learn daily.

A marriage that is ordained by the Lord needs to be made workable. Every marriage involves work. A successful or failed marriage involves work. People in a marriage do things to build or destroy it.

When a couple chooses a wedding song as their "family anthem" and after a while changes the "family song" to another when the family is crumbling, can a song make the marriage work? It is equivalent to a couple leaving what matters most to engage in frivolous things. It is equivalent to chasing shadows. They have to identify the reasons why the marriage is not working and the couple should map out workable solutions. Let me not fail to state that a positive change can only take place where each spouse is ready to act well his/her part.

One essential truth is that a careful examination of who joined them together will be of help. If it is established that a marriage is the handwork of God, then, every difficulty can be reported to Him for proper solution that will be worked upon by the concerned persons. This means that the marriage will surely involve God, as the Master Administrator and the couple as His assistants. Everything will then work together forever.

On the other hand, where the marriage is based on deception, most especially by the fathers of the husband and the wife, can any wedding song make such a marriage a successful one? In such a marriage, the fathers will always counsel the couple to remain together at their detriment but for the father's joy and comfort, most especially when they are staying together makes the fathers' business and life flourish. The couple are living sacrifices for the well-being of the deceitful fathers who never seek, and can never seek the good of the husband and the wife brought together.

On the other hand, what can a wedding song do in a marriage where the husband's father is only interested in the wealth of the bride? The poor groom's parents have resolved to ensure that they ruin the family of the wife until they completely take over their possessions. The groom's family will only spare those who are ready to be slaves.

Will it not be too foolhardy for the bride's family to encourage their beautiful daughter to remain in a marriage that has never been approved by the Lord? Should such a marriage continue until everyone in the wife's family is destroyed and their wealth is taken over?

A spokesperson of such a family should not seek only a change of a wedding song that is of no direct positive influence on the crumbled family relationship. Let each family seek out the plan of the Creator for each family of the husband and the wife.

The problem of a marriage is not in the wedding song but in the hearts of the people involved. Every marriage against the Lord's will will SURELY come to an end at an appointed time of God. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
