How many people die just a mile or two from heaven and end up in hell?

They go to hell being just a mile or two from heaven because they didn't persevere to the end.

You see, they denied Christ.

They took Christ upon their lips during their youth, but as they got older, they got hardened in their sin. They began to get disappointed with things in their life and they took it out on other people, especially God.

Especially God who gave them all their gifts and abilities. They didn't use their gifts for the glory of God; they used them for themselves.

They didn't tell other people about Christ.

Can you be saved and not tell other people about Christ and about salvation, about his wonderful salvation?

He says, “Go into all the world. Teach all nations whatsoever I've commanded you. And lo, I'm with you always. Even into the ends of the earth.”

One of the greatest crimes of the desert is to know where the water is and not to tell anybody.

Imagine. Imagine you're on a journey with others. You're all thirsty, right? You know where the water is, but you keep it all to yourself and at night time when everybody is asleep, you get up and you wander off a mile or two wherever that water is, and you drink it.

And yet you don't tell other people. And you let them perish.

My friends, that's like having the gospel knowing the way the truth and the life through Christ Jesus and yet not telling other people around you, who are in the desert with you, and you let them perish and go to hell.

Do you think you're gonna go to heaven? I don't think so.

Charles Spurgeon, the great English preacher, said something to the effect that if you don't tell other people about Jesus, then you yourself are not saved.” (I’m paraphrasing.)

So, let us remember the purpose for which we are put on this earth.

It's not to live for pleasure.

It's not to seek our own interest apart from the interests of Christ.

No.

What does Matthew 6:33 say?

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God in his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

The Lord knows what things we truly need. Food and water. I don't believe he even mentions shelter there.

I mean, the Son of Man had no place to lay his head. The foxes had holes in the birds nests but the Son of Man had no place to lay his head. So, even shelter isn’t guaranteed.

You can survive without shelter. If you have food and clothing and water, those are the real necessities of life.

But then, what about your spirit?

Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

And Jesus is the bread of life that came down from heaven. That's what the manna in the Old Testament represented.

When Moses was with the children of Israel in the desert, God sent manna from heaven. They got tired of the manna, didn’t they? They got tired of the manna and wanted meat.

So, God sent quail, to where they got sick and tired of that. We're never satisfied with what God gives us sometimes. We always want the gifts that somebody else has. But, if we're not willing to use the gifts that God has given, what makes us think we're going to use the gifts that other people have? We're not. You wouldn't do a thing with them.

You see, that person has a beautiful singing voice. I wish I had that gift I would use it. No, you wouldn't. Not if you're not using the gift that God has already given you.

So, let's think about these things.

Let's work on ourselves so that we would become better instruments, better vessels to be used to further the kingdom of God.

Be blessed, my friends.
