Death is an "issue" that many people are not interested in. They detest hearing the word not to talk or discuss anything connected with it. When anyone talks about it regularly, he is seen as someone who is "preparing" to die soon. Whereas it is not so. It should be a daily matter to discuss, and joyfully too

To those who know the Lord and walk perfectly with him, they derive joy in discussing the matter among themselves and with the Lord their God, regularly.

In one of such discussions with Prophet Moses, the Lord, his God, boldly told His servant
"Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers;". Deuteronomy 31:16(in part).

What an interesting point of discussion!

In a loving "chat" with his Maker, Moses learned a better synonym for death, that is, sleep. His God knows very well that Moses knew very well what it looks like to sleep. He was aware that whoever sleeps will wake up one day or at a time. He had a perfect understanding of what sleep entails.

He walked with God closely and he had the assurance that He will be with him in his sleep and when he wakes up, He is there for him. Therefore, no cause for any alarm whatsoever.

The prayer of Balaam is a sound and a perfect reminder of this sweet end. He said,
"Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!" Numbers 23:10.

The passing away of the righteous is a very good thing to desire. The word "die" can be replaced with "sleep". A man who sleeps has sufficient rest and he is refreshed. So it is with the righteous. When he sleeps in the Lord, he acquires more "strength" to continue his journey home with the Lord his God.

The end of the righteous is right and glorious. No wonder that Balaam prayed for an end like that of the righteous.

Beloved, can you see that there is no need to fear death? Since you don't fear to sleep, there is no need to fear going to be with the Lord your God, if you are one of His own. When you sleep, you wake up stronger and better. Do you know that you can only go to bed at a time, you cannot know when you sleep. Death and sleep are identical. Beloved, walk upright with the Lord your God and you will be happy to sleep in the Lord when the time comes. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord. Shalom!
