Apologetics

One hitching quality that easily destroys a man is pride. It makes a man overvalue himself. He sees himself as someone who is above everyone. It is only what he does that is good or best. Whatever anyone does is never appreciated by a proud man.
He over-concentrates on himself. He rarely considers the welfare of others. Personal pronouns saturate his conversation. He focuses on himself and wants others to do the same for him. He is not ready, most of the time to take any corrections. He knows it all.
Do you know what? He is also overambitious. A proud man is possessed by the devil. He may or may not know it. "I, I am, my, me, mine" occupies his conversations. So does the devil.
The Scriptures confirm this in the book of Isaiah thus,
"For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High." Isaiah 14:13-14.
Is an arrogant man not possessed? Note that pride begins from the heart, like any other wickedness. It is only those who have their hearts taken over that are engrossed in the use of personal pronouns and are overambitious.
This is very dangerous!
One thing about a proud man is that he is billed to lose out totally. He is an enemy of his God because He hates pride. He gives sufficient distance between Himself and an arrogant man. He does not love being close to him at all.
Not only that, he will fall completely. He will lose his position to someone better than he is.
This was the case with the devil himself. Revelation 12:8,9 discloses
"And prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
As it was with the devil, and his cohorts, who possesses a man, so will it be with a proud man and his supporters. They are permanent losers.
Beloved Pilgrim, the Lord, our God is meek and lowly, therefore we cannot afford to be proud, no matter how highly placed we are. May the Holy Spirit help us to be meek and lowly like our Master, Jesus Christ.
