Am I Humble?

Being humble is a status that many people, including the people of God, are interested in. They desire it without being ready to work towards achieving it. It does not work that way.

Do you know what? Each person can assess himself if at all he is working towards humility or not. In other words, there is a simple way to caution oneself from being arrogant or proud. If one can walk away from pride, he may be going towards meekness, knowingly or not.

Beloved, you can ask yourself, to identify, how often you employ personal pronouns. That is "I", "my", "me" and "mine". Do these dominate your conversation with others? If yes, is the answer, please, you need to adjust and pray for the help of the Holy Spirit to take over the words that will be coming out of your mouth.

Please, pay attention to the truth that you should not forget the truth that what proceeds from the mouth is a direct content of the heart. So, words are a direct revelation of the heart of a man. Jesus Christ reveals,
"...how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." Matthew 12:34(in part).

What comes out of a man's mouth is a true reflection of his heart's contents. He pours out a certain part of it with his words.

What can you say about a man who utters words like this?
"Shall I then take my bread and my water, and the flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they are?" 1 Samuel 25:11.

There are seven personal pronouns in this verse alone. Going by our discussion so far, can he be said to be a humble man? He over-concentrated on himself. No wonder that the Lord killed him ten days later. He then owned what he thought belonged to him. The Lord hates arrogance. Let us pray to be meek.
May the Lord help to give us humble hearts in the name of Jesus Christ. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
