A GIFT IS A TOOL!
Every gift, whether spiritual or otherwise is PRIMARILY A TOOL, though it could serve as a title for the purpose of identity; it's designed and given for effective, purposeful and productive service. Until our gifts are put to work or used to serve God and people, they remain dormant and useless, buried away. Ministers of Jesus Christ are servants of God and people. Every gift fulfills a purpose and meets a need.
1 Corinthians 12:7.
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other and so encourage people to experience the love of God and draw closer to Him.
Jesus Christ came to meet needs; to save sinners. If all were righteous, God wouldn't send a savior. Jesus came to destroy the works of Satan. If there wasn't Satan, God wouldn't send deliverers. Jesus and His Church would have no evil works of Satan to destroy. GOD RESPONDS TO NEEDS BECAUSE HE LOVES AND CARES FOR PEOPLE. If we care like He does, we would discover our gifts and use them to help each other and bring glory to God.
Ephesians 4:11-13.
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
The scripture above states that Jesus Christ, being so caring and thoughtful, gave these ministry gifts, the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, teachers and pastors to the Church for A PURPOSE AND TO MEET NEEDS. Now, the questions are do we still have the Church in this modern day? And does this modern day Church of Jesus Christ HAVE THE NEEDS OR REQUIRE THE SERVICES for which Jesus Christ gave these ministers?
Yes, of course, the Church of Jesus Christ is still alive and well in this modern day and the needs the Apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers and evangelists are given to meet are still OBVIOUS, PRESSING and VERY RELEVANT, unless we're blind and insensitive. So, no matter what people say, think or assume, God is STILL at work today in His Church using His anointed, sold out, faithful servants. God responds to needs and not to our personal opinions. Servants of God are used by God to serve. We should be focused on serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whatever capacity and place we're called and not waist time defending our calling or seeking people's approval. We must be absolutely focused on satisfying the one who called, qualified and approved us as able ministers and co-laborers in His vineyard. We answer to Jesus Christ ultimately, the head of the Church, who gave us His gifts by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
Galatians 6:7-10.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing serving others with our gifts and resources: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good, serve and be a blessing unto all men through our gifts and resources, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
