Apologetics
Our anchor verse in this group is 1 Peter 2:11 that runs thus, _"Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;" 1 Peter._
The thoughts of a stranger and a Pilgrim is entirely different from the thoughts of the citizens of a place. The citizens will be occupied with acquisitions of all kinds which will enable them to "enjoy" their lives in their land.
On the other hand, a stranger and a Pilgrim does not occupy himself with such attitudes. He is only interested in those few things that will make him comfortable a little for the short period he will spend in the place visited. He thinks and talks of home.
He tries as much as possible to prepare for his home. He considers sending things home which he will enjoy when he arrives there.
He does not occupy his heart with things that will not do him any good when he leaves his place of visit.
This was the experience of Jacob, also known as Israel who was used to form the nation of Israel. At a point in time in his servitude in the house of his uncle, Laban, he asked him, _"...and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?' Genesis30:30._
This has always been the thoughts of every serious Pilgrim. He is always occupied with provision for his house in Heaven. As a Pilgrim, your citizenship is in Heaven and not on the Earth. Be prepared and occupied with provision to reach there safely and be welcome home by the Lord your God. Remain faithful and focused because the Lord is coming to take His Saints home. Shalom!
