If We Could Only See

Oh, if we could only see
Our Father’s great heart of love,
As He watches over us,
From His great, high throne above.

Oh, if we could only see
God’s strong hand, holding us fast,
When we face life’s great trials,
And feel the storm’s fiercest blasts.

Oh, if we could only see
How God longs to hold us close,
When we face the vale of loss,
And feel in need of Him, most.

Oh, if we could only see
That God’s always good and true,
When it seems He is silent,
And there’s nothing we can do.

Oh, if we could only see
The ‘gold’ God seeks to refine,
When He tries and tests us sore;
That His great likeness may shine.

Oh, if we could only see
How God longs to bear us up;
To give His strength in weakness,
And fill our little cup.

Oh, if we could only see
The treasure God has in store,
For those who will believe,
And long to love Him, yet more.

Oh, if we could only see
Truly, as our God can see,
We wouldn’t doubt or waiver,
But say, “I will follow Thee.”

Oh, if we could only see
Our Father’s great, loving hand,
And hear His gentle whisper,
“Trust, though you don’t now understand!”

Oh, if we could only see
God cheering us on in the test:
Saying, “Be of good courage!
Trust; and find in Me sweetest rest.”

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
