Apologetics
Report Article
In the journey to the Kingdom of God, there are various types of people. There are those who are struggling to obey the rules and regulations associated with the journey. Certain people are occupied with questions about things too wonderful for them to understand. As a result, they are confused as to whether they should walk on the way or not.
Also, there are some people people who are enemies of the rules and regulations guiding travellers to the Kingdom. They throw missiles at the Word of God. Can these set of people be classified as fellow journey mates? I doubt much. They are not interested in obeying the law of the journey; they also try as much as possible to discourage others who are bent on doing the right thing.
Yet, there are many people who find doing the required things on the journey easy. They have overcome every obstacle to obeying the law on the way to the Kingdom of God.
In the same vein, a set of people have grown up to the extent that they have purposed to do more than what the journey requires. They add more. They want to achieve more than what other people attain.
One of the ways by which they do this is by a vow. Through a vow, better results emanate.
Let us consider the matter of Mrs Hannah Elikanah, the law required her and her household to go to Shiloh annually to sacrifice and worship the Lord God of Israel. She had done this for many years but she had no child. She was obedient to the law of the Lord, yet she was barren.
One year, during the annual celebration, she took her matter to another level. She added a vow to her obedience. She swore to give a son to serve the Lord all his life if she was given one. God played His part by giving her her request. She gave birth to a male child whom she named Samuel.
The following year when she was to join others to obey the law of annual sacrifice, she did not because of her vow. Her husband did not object to her decision to wait until she has weaned the child and he is "ripe" to be loaned to God forever; 1 Samuel 1:1-28.
Beloved, which of the group of people mentioned here do you belong? Examine your life to determine your level of relationship with God. You can serve Him more. Move to the level of those who uniquely serve God unquestionably.
The Holy Scriptures command that a tenth of a Saint's earning be given regularly to God but some people find it very difficult to obey it. On the other hand, certain people have resolved to pay twelve and a half percent of their earnings. Many people chose to pay fifteen percent. Whereas a few people give their whole earnings to the Lord their God. Where are you operating from? Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
