Be Aware of What You Plant  Jane H. Young

 If you plant squash in your summer garden you naturally expect  to pick a beautiful yellow squash, not a ripe red tomato. Why is that? Because what you plant is what will grow and that is what you will reap. Same goes for our everyday lives. What we plant in our minds is what we will reap in our lives and the lives of those we love.

 How often do you see a commercial on tv that promotes Godly values, I would say in my many years it is rare, yet we watch it mindlessly as through it has no effect on us. Everything you plant will take root if you water it often enough. TV is just one source of many seeds we plant in us, although lots of  commercial are not bad seeds so to speak, there are many that are.

 We need to sow, water, fertilize and harvest only the best seeds into our lives and in our children’s lives. Those good seeds will not happen watching tv, listening to the radio or being on the internet. The best seeds  come straight from Gods word. We have to live in this world, but we don’t need to embrace all it offers us. What we do need to  embrace is all that God is offering us every day.

 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 NIV

 “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:8 NIV

 Prayer: Father help me choose wisely the seeds I allow to be planted in me. I want the harvest that I reap each day to be one I can joyfully share with others.
