Purpose Of The Cross             Jane H. Young

 In a conversation I was having with a friend I got the feeling she didn’t believe there was sin. She believed as long as a person was happy with what they were doing and it wasn’t hurting anyone else’s it was fine. I ask her plainly, “so you don’t think that there are rights and wrongs and you believe there is no sin.” She said “yes.” Then I asked her “if there is no sin what did Jesus die on the cross for?”  She told me she had never thought about it. I could not understand how a person that went to church their whole life never gave thought to why Jesus died on that cross.

 I truly believe the reason why people don’t want to acknowledge what Jesus has done for them and all of us, on that cross, is because they will have to admit to the sins they are ignoring in their lives.

 “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”1 John 1:10 NASB

 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 NASB

 God has given all of us a  conscience , we know full well when we are doing wrong. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a Christian yet, or if you have been a Christian your whole life, you know!

 Watch a small child when they get caught doing something wrong, ask them if they did it and they will lie about it. Why is that, because they are  already aware of right and wrong and don’t want to get in trouble, it is that God given conscience at work. We are all born with it, it’s Gods gift to each one of us to be able to guide us through this life. There is another gift God gave us all, forgiveness when we repent. 

 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;” Acts 3:19 NASB

 Jane’s goal in life is to be a light for God in all she does!
