Who Is First               Jane H. Young

When you think about God, what is your first thoughts?God I need or God what do you need! Think about it. When you spend time with God, do you spend more time asking for something, whining, complaining, begging, or do you thank Him for what you have, do you get quiet before Him and make yourself available and listen.

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”Matthew 6:33 NASB

There was once a man who had two cows. He told his wife one day that he was going to sell one cow and keep the revenue for themselves. Then he said that he would also sell the other cow and give the revenue to God. The next day the man came into the kitchen where his wife was making lunch. She could immediately tell that he was sad. “What’s wrong?” she asked. The man paused, considered his words, and then replied, “God’s cow just died.”

When your own dreams, desires, and plans comes first, it will always be God’s cow that dies.  Spending time with God will always come second place to what we want if we don’t make God the number one priority in our lives . Our  commitment to Him and His plans for us, will be on a back burner, while at the same time, we are asking God to bless our plans.

We should be eager to receive direction from God daily and excited about the privilege of being used by God knowing we are making a difference in our neck of the woods. We should wake up each morning expecting God to work through us in fresh ways.

“The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 NASB

Prayer: Father I thank you that I can come to you for any need or desire I have. Teach me Father to first seek your plan for each day and then see if my plans fit in with yours. I have been doing it backwards, forgive me.
