A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in
Linoleum Blownapart. Ugh!

In response to yesterday's E-Cheer, one brand new subscriber
wrote, "I've been very turned off to Christianity the past few years
because of people who are more interested in being "right" than in
being loving." Wow, she hit a problem nail right smack on the
head. Some folks cannot seem to "contend for the faith" without
being contentious. What a shame.

In Jude 1:3, the nlt uses a less feisty word as Jude says, ".... urging
you to defend the truth of the Good News." Why did he say that?
Look at verse 4, "I say this because some godless people have
wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness
allows us to live immoral lives." No wonder he told them to
defend the Good News. He was talking about defending the truth
of the Good News which is, "Christ died for our sins," Some folks
think that verse 3 gives them license to contend for every doctrinal
issue where they think they are "right." Jude was discussing a
moral issue, not a doctrinal one.

They overlook the verses with which Jude starts his letter -- vss. 1
& 2: "...I am writing to all who are called to live in the love of God
the Father and the care of Jesus Christ. May you receive more of
God's mercy, peace, and love." That doesn't sound contentious!
Webster says, "contentious -- exhibiting an often perverse and
wearisome tendency to quarrels and disputes. Nuff said.
