A senior gentleman complained to his Doc that he wasn't
feeling well. The doctor said, "You know I can't make you
feel young again." The man replied, "I don't want to be
young again, I just want to keep on getting older." I can
relate to that.

Preacher A, a Baptist, goes to lunch with preacher B, a
Presbyterian. They have a heated discussion over a
"doctrinal" issue and get indigestion. Preacher A leaves
convinced he won the argument, but preacher B equally
feels he won.

Question: Does each one being convinced that they were
"right" make them a better friend to the unsaved neighbor
next door? Does it make them a better representative of
Christ to the abused boy down the street who just needs a
good hug? Does it make them a better conveyer of the love
of Christ to the young unwed mother across the street who
really needs a friend? Does it make them a better example
of a Christian to the store clerk who is in tears over a
mistake she made because someone grumbled at her?
Does it, really? You say, "No." Then what's the big deal
about being "right" in your own sight all the time? Is it really
that crucial over issues than neither side can prove
conclusively?

Romans 13:8 (nlt) makes a good statement: "Pay all your
debts except the debt of love for others. You can never
finish paying that! If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill all
the requirements of God's law." I didn't say it -- Paul did
under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Doctrine, Smocktrine,
if it doesn't make you a more loving representative of Jesus
Christ to "others," how important can the arguments be?
