Lord God,

I thank you that you formed me as the unique person that I am,

And that you know every single part of me,

I have been crafted in your image,

And my worth is found in you,

Yet, so often I look for my sense of worth in the wrong places,

I find my identity in my achievements and wealth,

Or in my job title,

I find my identity in my social media profile,

Or in the number of friends that I have,

I find my identity in the successes of my ministry,

And in the number of good works that I do,

I find my identity in my marriage,

And in loving and taking care of my family,

Yet, no matter how good all of these things may be,

They cannot define me,

And when I try to make these gifts you have given me the foundation of my identity,

I end up losing sight of who I truly am,

Please keep reminding me daily that my true identity is in being a child of you,

And being a part of the body of Christ alongside my brothers and sisters,

Teach me that my true citizenship is in heaven,

And as I remember who I truly am,

Please give me wisdom and guidance as I seek to live in light of my identity in Christ,

So that others would come to know more about you through my witness.
