Hebrews: 12:2 - "Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God"
1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
2. Thro' death into life everlasting,
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion--
For more than conqu’rors we are!
3. His Word shall not fail you--He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
I love every line in this Hymn. It says about how victorious and free we we are when we experience Jesus in our lives. The first paragraph of the song is more apt of us. We are tired and exhausted when all that we see is darkness around trying to consume us. We give up thinking that we are weak and cannot control the darkness from invading. Well there is an answer for that. His name is Jesus. When we turn our eyes from looking at the darkness and focus on the light. We are not afraid anymore or worried, instead, we can see clearly that Jesus has made a way. Believe me, "There's light at the end of the tunnel". Never give up. Jesus is the light.
The chorus is beautiful!!! When we look at Jesus our perspective towards many things changes. Anger turns into Love, Sadness into Joy, Hopeless into Hopeful...etc.. And even our desires change. We want to acquire what Jesus has for us because we have seen what He could give for us. And what ever He gives is permanent and all the things of the world that we don't need move out of our focus. We will live in a serene environment.
The second paragraph says how we become conquerors in Jesus and nothing has dominion over than Him. As in, the moment we give our lives for Jesus, He lives in us. As a result of that, we are forgiven, redeemed and freed. And when the time comes for God to take us to our eternal home which in His time. We can leave in surety that, we are going to Jesus and live a life everlasting with Him!!! So glorious!!!
And finally the third paragraph points to His word. His word which is truth and life giving. His promises are Yes and Amen. He does what He promises to us. Even if it takes time, He will perform it in His time. Jesus is never early, nor too late but always on time. But most importantly, we must also share to others, the goodness of Christ, His love and all that you experienced in Him. So that they also can find the forgiveness, redemption and freedom In Jesus. Because Jesus died for us on the cross so that we can live an everlasting life. I leave you with a song that came to now mind as I was ending the blog.
