We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord.
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving;
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy.
This beautiful song came on my mind when I was wondering what to write for today. I remember singing this song at my church when I was a kid. I really didn't try to understand the meaning behind this verse and even now when this song came on my, I was not sure what to write about it but I know the Holy Spirit will work His way here.
Sacrifice and praise are two different meanings. Sacrifice is when we give up something in order to receive what we want and praise on the other hand is rejoicing and being happy about what we already have. But spiritually there is more meaning underlying here than that. You see, we praise Jesus when He has provided us our needs, desires and miracles that seamed less than possible. We are so thankful for His move in our lives that brought a huge turnaround. And even when we are waiting on a miracle, we keep praising and thankful Jesus with a joyful faith that, He will perform the miracle for us.
At the same time, while we offer our praises to God. We lay down ourselves at the feet of Jesus and submit our ways to Him. We let go of our plan for our lives and let God sail the ship. Because He is the one who knows how to sail through the storm. He is the one who changes course when our ship is going towards a horrible storm and anchors the ship from being hit on a rock or being swept away. Our job here is to surrender our thoughts, plans and future in the hands of Jesus because He knows what's ahead of us.
I had a dream of me sailing in a huge ship and the funniest part here is that I was the only person in that giant ship. The ship represents here as my journey along with God. So while I was sailing, the ship entered in to a huge cave filled with huge rocks in between with minimal light, causing a big obstruction to move on. As I kept moving, I saw a huge rock to one side and I thought my ship was going to hit it and cause damage. But instead, I saw a giant hand come down and cover the rock so that my ship can pass through. At first, I was confused as to from where this hand came from. And I kept running into the same situation with huge rocks and giant hand covering it. The hand help me to keep moving forward even though there were blocks in front of me. Then towards the end, I felt I was reaching a dead end and couldn't figure out if I should stay here till someone comes looking for me and I wasn't ready to go back either to where I started. During that time I was waiting for a way to come through, I felt the ship was rising and kept rising. Then I saw the whole ship was lifted up with what ever source and I was flying above sea level and even above the cave. That time, I knew it was Jesus who was navigating my whole ride. From the giant hand to a flying ship, it was a crazy experience but I saw how God moves even when we can't see Him making a way for us. I surrendered to walk my life with Jesus knowing there will be road blocks from moving forward but He gave a reason and in fact many reasons to thank Him and praise Him.
Surrender your cares, your burdens, desires and above all yourself to God to take control. Give it to Jesus and let Him walk with you and lead you. While you keep walking and waiting for your miracle, keep praising God for all that He has done and going to do. And after the breakthrough, shout out loud with praises to God for He has been faithful all the way through.
