On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

This chorus comes to my mind from the song, “My hope is built on nothing less”. Also, this song reminds us that our hope and stay is in Jesus Christ. He protects us from being uprooted during any storm or He keeps us grounded when we feel we are slipping. His grace gives us the extra boost to keep us going and being hopeful of our circumstances to change through Jesus. And most importantly, we must walk in the path He has laid for us in all obedience, patience and commitment. To attain the promises God has for us individually or a community, we must keep in mind to not just be hearers of His word but also doers. He is a wise God, He knows what is right and there is no arguing with that.

I know most of you have heard about the Parable of the wise and the foolish builders (Matthew:7:24-27 TPT version) – “Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation. “But everyone who hears my teaching and does not apply it to his life can be compared to a foolish man who built his house on sand. When it rained and rained and the flood came, with wind and waves beating upon his house, it collapsed and was swept away.”

The wise builder displayed the obedience towards God. As in when we walk through a path which is so difficult to navigate or too rocky, we ask God to help us and lead us. He knows what is the best time for us but while waiting, we lose our faith and patience in Him like the foolish builder. We try to pick up our own baggage and navigate ourselves which will only lead to disappointments. Instead, when we keep our focus on Jesus and believe that “Jesus the solid Rock you stand on in all dependency, patience and wisdom” will never let you stumble or fall. Jesus is our map for our destination, He is the solid foundation to build our life on and He is the light to shine on the path we walk on.

I am reminded of a time when I was asking God to lead in the way He believes is best. Instead of waiting for His guidance , I lost my patience and I took things into my own hands which resulted in more disappointments than before. I asked God what went wrong and why He didn’t help me. That same night, I had a dream of me travelling somewhere and I heard someone with a still small voice telling me ” You ask for my help/send angels, but you still want to interfere”. The next morning I asked God to forgive me and lead me in the His direction, His time, His purpose. We do fall back while we wait on God but when we realize that we have not waited for God to make His move, never be afraid to come back to Him to ask for forgiveness. He will always love us no matter what and He understands us more than anyone. And believe with all certainty that He who started the good work in you will finish it on the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

God bless.
