This is a Psalm of David and through out this psalm David goes between crying out to God for help and remembering to rise up in trusting Him.
In verses 1-4 we see that God is our refuge, rock of strength, stronghold, fortress and guide.
Then we hit verse 5 which foretells the death of Jesus on the cross. “Into Thy hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast ransomed me, O Lord, God of truth.” (NASB) (see Luke 23:46)
David is back to remembering the loving kindness of God in verses 6-8.
Now verse 12 is one I really want you to take a look at:
“I am forgotten as a dead man, out of mind, I am like a broken vessel.” (NASB)
A broken vessel—-
Those three words struck a chord with me. I realized that is when God can do His best work. He is the Master potter! When we place ourselves in His capable hands then He is able to remove all the cracks and blemishes. No not with Botox! He will make us brand new from the inside out. So cool!
“But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father,
We are the clay, and Thou our potter;
And all of us are the work of Thy hand.” (Isaiah 64:8 NASB)
Living in His presence is upmost important because this allows the Holy Spirit to speak and if there are any potholes surrounding us we will be warned. We will be shown another alternative.
Certainly, there are times, that the fork in the road is out there as a learning experience. We are not to despair because God is just a prayer away. Ask for wisdom and guidance and He will lead you home. Remember what the first verses said: He is our refuge, strength, fortress and so much more. Amen.
