Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. John 19:40 NIV
These two men desired to do their best to give Jesus a proper Jewish burial. Their hearts were in the right place.
We must remember that we were buried with Christ. We no longer belong to this world, but instead belong to the Lord. Just as Christ would be raised from the dead, we who belong to Him have awoken to a new life, a life in Jesus Christ. Gone is the slavery to sin, replaced by the salvation and redemption given to us by the Lord!
