Very interesting it is here. The Jewish leaders reveal that Jesus had already been convicted of the crime and it was Pilate’s responsibility to carry out their demand for His execution. In the Jewish leader’s eyes Pilate had no say in the determination of Jesus’ conviction, but only in the carrying out of the execution sentence. The Jewish leaders were only attempting to use Pilate as a puppet to carry out their desires. Pilate saw through their desires, but he still wound up giving in to their request.
