 ANGELS UNDER MY HOOD?

The Bible is filled with stories about angels dispatched by God to minister to His children for various needs. A few examples: Elijah was supplied with food for nutrition (1 Kings 19:5-7); Daniel was protected from bodily harm (Daniel 6:22); and Jesus was strengthened emotionally (Matthew 4:11).

My angels’ assignment was to get me home.

It was 11:50 p.m. Ten minutes into my 30-minute drive home from work, my car began stalling. I pulled off the road as the engine gave its last groan. Pitch-black and no cell phone, I tried starting it again. Nothing. I prayed, “Lord, I’m Your child. Please make this car go and get me home safely. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.” I held my breath as I turned the key. The engine purred like a kitten. The remaining 20-minute drive home was uneventful. I pulled into the garage, thanked God for a safe trip home, and went to bed.

The next morning, I got into my car expecting it to start. I put the key in the ignition, turned it…and nothing! My husband looked under the hood and found a broken fuel pump and a big hole in the fuel line. Logically, the car shouldn’t have made it home the night before. Since no gas was being pumped from the gas tank to the carburetor for those last 20 minutes, what fueled my car and how?

My theory is that one angel plugged the hole with his finger and another angel pumped gas from the tank, allowing fuel to reach the carburetor.

Thinking back, I didn’t ask God to fix my car, only to make the car go and get me home safely. That He did!

For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways (Psalm 91:11).
