Eternal Life

For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:2-3 NIV

If you were to ask many Christians “when does eternal life begin”? they would say when Jesus greets one after their passing from this world. But look at what Jesus says here in this reading. Eternal life is not a matter of a time that it begins with leaving this world, but rather begins with the knowing of the One true God, the Heavenly Father, and His only Son Jesus Christ, whom the Father sent to redeem us. Yes, knowing God is the beginning of eternal life. Oh, it will be escalated when we leave this world as we will then see the Father and Son in all their glory and majesty. We shall praise and worship them forever!

Has your eternal life begun? I pray so. To know God is everything and to be without Him is being without hope.
