Glorifying

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.” John 17:1 NIV

Here begins the beautiful prayer of our Lord before He and His disciples would enter the garden. Jesus looks up to heaven. Notice that when He begins to speak there is no word before Father. Jesus knows that the hour had come for Him to be glorified, and through His completed work the glorifying of the Father. Can you see the true Oneness of the Father and the Son as Jesus prays to the Father here?

The Father had sent the Son as a manifestation. He sent the Son to reveal the will of the Father. He sent the Son that mankind might be reconciled to the Father. There is glory in God just for who He is. But the glory is also reveled through the plan of the Heavenly Father and through the completion of the work needed by Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit was the forthcoming gift of the Father to be bestowed first upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost.

May we always glorify the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in all that we do!
