“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV

What reactions come to mind when you think of trouble? How about fright, fear, or maybe anxiety. I bet you can add a few more words to that list, can’t you?

We will do everything we can to avoid trouble and will at times tend to ignore its existence. Yet, Christ has told us we will face trouble in this world. It is part of life. Look at the trouble Christ faced. He was rejected by the many, sought after to be killed, and yet what wrong did He commit?

With Christ as our Lord and Savior, we can face trouble filled with peace. This is a peace which the world cannot understand. How can we be at peace? We can be at peace because we know that victory is ours. It was won for us by Christ at the cross. We can know for certain that our eternity is to be spent in the presence of the Father and the Son, and no power can take this away from us.

As we face times of trouble with the peace of Christ within, we will grow in our faith as the Lord leads us through the troubled times. Whatever the outcome, Christ will be by our side through it all, as we belong to Him. Live in His peace, even when you face trouble.
