The time for discussion with the disciples was quickly drawing to an end as the hour of conflict between righteousness and evil was approaching. At that very hour Judas was off speaking with the Jewish leaders planning the betrayal of the Lord.
For a short while it would appear that evil would win over righteousness, but that is never the case. Even though Christ did die, it was not because of the grandiose plans of evil. No, Christ died because it was part of the plan of the Father, the plan for offering salvation to mankind. Evil just carried out its part of the plan. Nothing happens which is not under the control of God.
