Believing is Not Seeing

Our Father God is invisible, mysterious, powerful, all-knowing.

He is God.

Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.(Psalm 115:3-NIV)

And it pleases Him to help us when we call on Him.

In the midst of troubles we cry out to Him, wanting to know why and how and when.

We want desparately to actually see Him, to know what He looks like, to be able to hold on to Him.

Some may even doubt He exists or see Him as far away, unreachable, uncaring.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. (Romans 8:25-ESV)

If God gave us all the answers when we asked, if we could see Him, if He would prove without a doubt that He exists would it be easier to believe, easier to wait patiently?

Maybe, but in His wisdom and for His reasons, it is His desire for us to trust Him without knowing, believe Him without seeing, love Him without understanding the "whys" and "whens" and "hows".

Believing without seeing, trusting without understanding.

This is faith.

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy (1 Peter 1:8-NIV)

Some beautiful, wonderful, glorious day we will see Him, know Him fully, live with Him in His perfect Kingdom forever. But for now He asks us to to remember what He has done in the past, to take to heart everything He says and trust in His faithfulness to keep every one of His promises.

Believing is not seeing...it is trusting completely in the only One who is completely trustworthy.
