Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?” Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. John 13:25-26 NIV

To the gospel writer the traitor was revealed. I believe it was spoken quietly just to him, as he had leaned back against the Lord to hear His response.

Why did Jesus reveal the traitor, and only to John? First, I believe Christ revealed the traitor so that later the remaining 11 disciples would have no doubt as to all that the Lord proclaimed. It is one thing to say that one out of twelve would betray, but to specify the particular one is even more amazing. I believe the statement was only made to John, as if it had been revealed to all then they may have taken Judas and removed him from where he could be any harm to the Master.

This is such an amazing account of our Lord at His last meal with the twelve men He had chosen to follow Him.
