How Did They Know?

 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. John 12:9 NIV

So, how was a large crowd able to find Jesus’ whereabout? Well, it is not as if Jesus was actually hiding in the house of the sisters and Lazarus. He and the disciples had gone there as there was a dinner offered in honor of Jesus. Keep in mind that Bethany was only about two miles from Jerusalem.

Note also that the large crowd was not wanting to go out to Bethany just because Jesus was there, but, they also wanted to see the man that Jesus had raised from the dead. It is as if they needed to see it with their own eyes in order to believe in the truth of what the Lord had done.

Do you need visual proof to believe what Jesus has done? How does one have visual proof that Jesus dwells within the heart? And, what about visual proof of the Holy Spirit abiding in the heart and soul of the believer? Believe and have faith, for the Lord works far beyond that which is seen with the eyes!
