Where is your faith? Or Your faith has made you well

“Where is your faith?” Or “Your faith has made you well.”

Often we hear the question, “what is your faith?”, the anticipated answer is to know the religion we follow, did we ever hear anybody asking, “where is your faith?”, the person asking in this case actually knows what faith means.

Bible defines faith as:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

Faith in Christ is the assurance of all the things hoped for and the evidence (sight) of all not yet seen.

And how important is it to have faith? Is it optional or ‘a must need’?

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

Do we need to see God ‘pleased’ with us? Then faith is ‘a must need’.

And from where do we get the faith if at all we are missing it?

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17

Do we hear/read the Word of God enough? For the more we study from this precious Word, the more we will know and understand God and His plans for us, the promises of God will keep us.

Ephesians 6:17 tells us that ‘The Word of God’ is the sword of the Spirit. Have you ever seen a warrior without a sword? How vulnerable he would be if he doesn’t possess a sword and even if he possesses it, if he does not know how to use it? Remember when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness after fasting for 40 days, He combated every of the temptations of the devil by quoting the scriptures. Are we in such a position? Do we know what’s written in the Word? Will the devil be able to fool us? Jesus could not be fooled as He knew the Word (He Himself is the Word), but what about us?

Once when Jesus was travelling with His disciples, He said to them….

“Let us go over unto the other side of the lake.” Luke 8:22, the disciple heard this and they were heading in a boat, probably the weather was very good initially and thus Jesus fell asleep, after a while they were caught up in a storm and all the disciples panicked, they saw death ahead (with Life(Jesus) still aboard with them in the boat) and they awoke Jesus. He rebuked the wind and it calmed, He then literally rebuked them too asking, “Where is your faith?” they were yet to come out of the trauma of the storm. This all happened probably within just few hours…

In yet another occasion as is mentioned in Acts 27, when Paul was being taken to Rome along with the other prisoners, their ship was caught in a storm and this lasted for many days, similar to the disciples mentioned in Luke 8, all on board the ship were scared to death, yet Paul had this to say…

“And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.“

Acts 27:22-25 (NKJV)

How sure Paul was of what he had heard from the Lord? What God has said – He will do.

When in Luke 8:22 Jesus had said “Let us go over unto the other side of the lake”, He will ensure that we will make it to the other side.

Often the storms of life tests our faith, to such situations let us present ourselves with our faith.

For God is not a man to have a slip of tongue or be unable to fulfill His promise….remember what Jesus said…

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” Matthew 24:35 (NKJV)

Thus let’s always have faith and let’s never give a chance to God to ask us, “where is your faith?”, rather let Jesus say this about us, “Your faith has made you well.” (Mark 5:34)
