“Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” John 10:37-38 NIV
Jesus is attempting to get those present to believe that He is from the Father, not through His words, as they seem to not except His claims. Instead, He tells them to look at the works which He performs. Those works could not be performed by someone unless He was from God. Certainly, this should have seemed reasonable to them. How could a mere human perform the many miracles which Christ had performed which they had seen, or others had seen? But the minds of the leaders were closed to any thought that Jesus could have come from God. Until a mind and heart are open Christ is unable to work on winning such a one to Himself.
