Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.” John 9:41 NIV
If these Pharisees could and would admit that they were blind to the ultimate truth to life and needed help to find it, then they would not be guilty of the sin of being enslaved to that which is of the world. They, with a repentant heart could be directed to the Truth, which is Jesus Christ. However, these men had minds and hearts that were hardened to their man-made beliefs, and they had no room for the idea that what they thought could possibly be in error. Because of their hardened hearts and minds, their souls remained spiritually dead, and guilt still smothered them. They were trapped forever.
