Robbers Of The Sheep Pen

"Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.” John 10:1 NIV

How is it that Jesus suddenly just starts speaking about sheep pens, gate, and robbers. Keep in mind that we are not actually sure as to where Jesus was located while He was speaking with the man born blind and the Pharisees together. But this verse enlightens us to the fact that they were quite likely near a sheepfold with a gate. Notice also here that Jesus is directly making His comment to the Pharisees.

I believe much is unearthed in this verse. The Pharisees were suppose to have been the shepherds of God’s flock, leading them in doing what pleases God. But Jesus is letting them know that actually they are robbers, climbing a wall which protects believers in order to get inside with the believers of His day and rob them of the Truth of God. The gate is a representation of Jesus Christ as all who believe in God must see Him spiritually through the Holy Spirit provided by the Father to those who believe in Jesus Christ.
