“We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” John 9:20-21 NIV

The parents first told the Pharisees two facts. The man before them was their son and he was born blind. Now the parents were not with the man at the time of his healing so they could say that they can not be sure how he gained his sight. They could also say they did not know who had cured him since they were not present. But rest assured that the man had told them what had happened, and I am willing to bet that his parents believed what he told them. They were just going to use as an out to the situation not being present at the time of the healing. And since the man was of age, they told the Pharisees to ask him for a response.

Today many will not accept the truth about Jesus Christ, yet we must continue to share the Good News and not feel discouraged if we don’t see results we desire. We share and the Lord takes over from there, working on the individual’s heart.
