Afraid Of Those Who Led

His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” John 9:22-23 NIV

So, the parents of this former blind man were afraid of the Jewish leaders, afraid of those who were suppose to be leading them in the worship of God. Do you think God intends for people to be afraid of those who lead them in worship of God? Something definitely appears to be wrong here. These Jewish leaders were so filled with self and cared little if at all about the people whom they led in worshipping God. They sought approval for their status and did not seek the approval of God.

May we not present the Good News in a way to instill fear of us or what we present to others. We want the words to be inviting but at the same time convey the need for a Savior. Then God can work on the heart of the one who hears the Word.
